MINOR SPORTS LIST MAY INCLUDE POLO

Whether or not polo will be made a regular authorized minor sport at the University is a question which will probably be definitely settled within the next month. A preliminary conference was held yesterday between Lieutenant Colonel W. S. Browning head of the department of military Science and Major Moore, in which the feasibility of changing polo from an activity of the military science department to an authorized minor sport was discussed.

Colonel Browning pointed out the fact that at both Yale and Princeton, where military units have been established by the war department, polo teams have been organized and given the highest support. Polo has been considered as a regular minor sport at these universities; adequate facilities have been provided, games scheduled; and numerals awarded at the close of the season.

At a meeting on next Wednesday of the Committee on Athletics, this question will be discussed, and some decision will probably be reached as to the advisability of placing polo at Harvard on the same basis as at Yale and Princeton.

Later in December there will be a meeting of the Minor Sports Council which will report on the matter to the Student Council. That body will meet early in January to make the ultimate decision.
