The rifle shooting season will start this evening with an open meeting of the Rifle Club in Holworthy 14 at 8 o'clock.
F. F. Potter '24, captain of the University team, will outline this season's schedule. Freshmen will also meet at the same time to make arrangements for the formation of a Freshman team.
This year the schedule will probably include several dual matches with M. I. T., Syracuse, the University of Maine, and possibly the University of California. The season's principal work, however, will be the matches with the members of the Northeastern Intercollegiate Rifle League. This League is composed of 11 of the Universities, including Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, and Cornell. The winner of the League championship, which will be decided on, a percentage basis similar to the rating in the baseball leagues, will receive a handsome trophy.
The rifle team is supported by the Rifle Club and its personnel is selected entirely from members of this organization. A system has been arranged so that the team is selected for each match by the captain from a list of comparative scores. Thus any member of the Club has the opportunity of making the team on the basis of his practice scores.
