At the opening practice of the basketball team held yesterday afternoon at the Hemenway Gymnasium, more than 40 men reported. The work consisted of light conditioning exercises, besides a short drill in passing and dribbling. Coach Wachter will continue to stress the fundamentals of the game until next week, when the squad will be put through its first scrimmage.
The veterans who reported yesterday were Rudofsky, Stevens, and Merriam, and several members from last year's Freshman quintet were present including Combs, Maher, Smith, and Jones.
The men who were on the football squad did not report, but they will be available the first of next week when the more important work commences. Of these players, the most promising are Captain Gordon, Black, and Samborski.
