NOTED PERSIAN EXPLORER WILL LECTURE TONIGHT

Brigadier-General Sir Percy Sykes, Gold-Medallist of the Royal Geographical Society, will speak in the Living Room of the Union this evening at 7.30 o'clock on "Travels and Adventures in Persia". His lecture, which is open to all members of the Union and their guests, will be illustrated by colored slides. Professor Julian L. Coolidge '95 will introduce the speaker.

Yesterday, General Sykes outlined what he intended to discuss this evening: "I shall first have a map of Persia thrown on the screen and will give an account of the importance of Persia's location. I will next devote a few minutes to an explanation of why Persia became a war area.

"I shall make reference among other things to Omar Khayyam of Nishapur and to the game of polo, which originated in Persia and which I revived again in Persia 25 years ago. Before closing there will be a short account of curious Persian customs and several slides depicting famous scenes of Persian stories and legends."

Sir Percy Sykes is perhaps the greatest living authority on Persia. From 1888 to the close of the World War he was in Persia or its neighbor, India, engaged in British army work and in the study of the country.
