In the final game of the 1927 soccer season on Soldiers Field this afternoon the Freshman team will face the strongest opponent it has met this year, the undefeated Yale Freshman eleven. piling up a total of 11 points in four games, the Elis have held their opponents scoreless. Riverdale was defeated 5-0, New Haven High School 4-0, the Acme Wire Company 1-0, and the Princeton Freshmen 1-0.
The Crimson team, although defeated once by Andover, has shown its power in the last three games, all of which it has won easily, and a victory this afternoon is all that is needed to cap a successful season. In four victories, one tie, and one defeat, the 1927 team has scored 13 points to its opponents' 5, the best Freshman record for several years.
The squad of over thirty players which reported to Coach Wale at the beginning of the season has produced a Freshman team which is probably equal to any that Yale may show. The forward line of Captain Gherardi, Gans, Crooks, Trevvett, and Pruyn, which has started almost every game this season will again play intact this afternoon. Its potential scoring ability has been developed steadily, a total of 9 goals piled up in the last three games giving evidence of a really strong offense.
The backfield is powerful, though its make-up has not yet been definitely determined by Coach Wale. Woodard will surely be at goal while Morey at left fullback will be paired with MacKinnon. The fullbacks will be Burnett and hale at left and center, with Herling, Good-hue, or Boyce at right.
