The Gamma chapter of the Tau Beta Pi fraternity, an honorary engineering society corresponding to the Phi Beta Kappa in liberal arts colleges, elected an advisory board of four graduate members at the first meeting of the season held Wednesday night. The board consists of Albert Palmer '23, elected for four years; M. S. Bromwell '23, elected for three years; J. G. Peter 1G.E.S., elected for two years; and Charles Weller '23, elected for one year. It was also decided to send President E. P. Nelson 4E.S. as a delegate to the national convention of the fraternity to be held soon in Lexington, Kentucky.
The annual election of members will be held next Wednesday, October 10. Seven members will be chosen from the Senior class. The election, like that of the Phi Beta Kappa, is based largely on grades received during the previous college years.
The society was established and chartered at the Engineering School last June after petitioning for over a year for a charter. It is the third chapter to be founded in Massachusetts, the Alpha chapter being at the Worcester Polytechnical School and the Beta chapter at Technology: The fraternity is especially strong in the Middle West with headquarters in Knoxville, Tenn. The charter members at Harvard were elected on a basis of their grades as furnished by the Administrative Board of the School.
