SEEDED PLAYERS ADVANCE EASILY IN FIRST ROUND

One hundred contenders for the Jackson Cup played through their first round matches in the University tennis tournament on the Jarvis field courts yesterday afternoon. All eight of the seeded players had little trouble in winning their matches, although L. H. Bondi '25, lagging after his first set, dropped a love set to H. S. Kempner '24, Bondi then proceeded to take the third set without the loss of a game.

Parke Cummings '25, Who was a member of his Freshman team, causd a surprise by overwhelming G. D. Debevoise '26, captain and number three man of last year's Freshman team, 6-1, 6-2.

The remaining matches in the initial round, numbering about 20, will be played off tomorrow by 4 o'clock, when many of the second round matches will also begin.

In conjunction with the singles matches are the doubles, which are scheduled to start this afternoon. Four teams have been seeded: W. W. Ingraham '25; and W. P. Dixon '25; G. M. Wheeler 1G, and Alden Briggs '25; and W. T. Smith '26 and G. D. Debevoise '26.
