AMHERST SOCCER ELEVEN HUMBLES UNIVERSITY 2-0

The University soccer team received its first defeat of the season on Soldiers Field Saturday afternoon at the hands of the fast Amherst eleven. The Crimson forward line, in the absence of Lamont, seemed to lack the punch necessary to score a goal and missed several opportunities to tie the score, especially in the first half. Hoyt shot a clever goal for Amherst after fifteen minutes of play, but the Crimson counter-attack failed to produce a score. Again in the second period, after Bristol's goal for the visitors, the University team forced the play, but were unable to penetrate the visitors' defense.

The work of Fitton at goal and of Captain Greenidge on the defence was especially reliable, while Tuttle showed flashes of brilliancy on the toward line.
