YALE GOES "GHOST-BALL" ONE BETTER; LAMPS LIGHT FIELD

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Eli football players will know what it feels like to work behind the footlights, not on the stage but on the gridiron, when the electric lights the ready for use which have been placed around the main gridiron of Pratt Field in New Haven. The sporting world has heard of electric-lighted tennis courts and hockey rinks, but it was not until the electric light poles were placed around Yale's gridiron that playing football at night was introduced.

More time was needed for football practice because of the late recitations which prevent work from starting before 4.15 o'clock. Practices were short enough on cloudless days, but when last Wednesday, a cloudy day, cut practice short far too soon because of lack of light, Coach Jones decided some action must be taken, and as a result the lighting is being installed.
