UNIVERSITY FIVE SHOWS FINE FORM IN DEFEATING MIDDLEBURY BY 46-26

THIRD VICTORY OVER VERMONT PLAYERS SINCE 1920

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Playing with the best form shown so far this season the University basketball team downed Middlebury by a score of 46 to 26. The Vermonters jumped into the lead at the start but failed to hold it throughout the half. This is the third victory over Middlebury since Coach Wachter took over the team in the fall of 1920. The Crimson men outplayed their opponents in every way, their fast passing and close guarding forcing the blue jerseyed players to try many of their shots from mid-floor, Likorski scoring twice from the University territory.

The entire Crimson team showed great improvement in passing and their team work made the Middlebury quintet take the small end of the score. McLeish, captain of the team last year, played a fast dribbling game, going down the floor for three goals, while several of his passes to Lowenthal resulted in tallies. Toward the end of the first half Coach Wachter's team pulled away from Middlebury by a spurt in which a fast play, Black to Sipp and Sipp to Lowenthal under the basket, featured.

Toward the end of the second half the entire Crimson second team went in for the remainder of the game.
