A meeting of those interested in a Freshman debating club will be held this evening at 7.15 o'clock in the Smith Halls Common Room under the auspices of the University Debating Council. R. S. Bowers '24, president of the Council, Philip Walker '25, vice-president, and R. S. Fanning '23, will address the meeting in order to explain the purpose of the proposed club and outline the plans for the coming year.
At this meeting temporary officers will be selected to hold office until permanent officers will be chosen after the club has been organized for some time. The purpose of the organization is to promote lively discussions of questions of current interest both connected with the college and the world of politics.
Some five or six meetings are contemplated, but only two of these will be regular debates. As in past years there will be a general discussion of questions, both sides of which will first be presented in short prepared speeches.s
