SECONDS DEFEAT ANDOVER

Two Goals by Reid in Final Period Overcome Schoolboys' Early Lead--Lack of Practice Evident

In the first game of the 1923 season Saturday, the University second hockey team gained a 2 to 1 victory over the Phillips Andover Academy sextet. Due in part to the fact that poor ice has deprived both the Crimson scrubs and the schoolboys of practice since the Christmas vacation, the play was slow and the team-work poor until the final period.

Andover started the scoring, after a first period deadlock, with a single tally in the second session by Failing. In the final period, H. W. Reid '25 tallied twice for the Crimson skaters, the second of his scores being only a few seconds before the close of the game. Reid and H. M. Bohlen '25 were the outstanding Crimson players.

The summary: HARVARD 2ND  ANDOVER. Palmer Whittall, l.w.  r.w., Rogers, Brewer Reid, c.  c., Failing Peirson, r.w.  l.w., Knight Nichols, l.d.  r.d., Quarrier, Brown Bohlen, r.d.  l.d., Ellison Dole, g.  g., Prior

Score, Harvard 2nd 2, Andover 1. Goals, Reid 2, Failing. Referee, Cole. Time, one 8 and two 10-minute periods.
