UNIVERSITY HAS 30 IN STATE SQUASH TOURNEY

The Massachusetts Open Squash Racquets Championship, the most important annual squash racquets tournament held in New England, will begin next Monday at the Harvard Club courts in Boston. The University will send about 30 players, led by W. P. Dixon '25 and Channing Wakefield 2L., both of whom will be strong contestants. Any member of the University, including Freshmen, may enter this tournament by signing in the blue book at the University Squash Racquets Building before Saturday at 12 o'clock. The entrance fee is $1.00 which will be collected later. Last year about twenty members of the University entered, and several advanced well into the final rounds.

Although the round before the semifinals, the semi-finals, and finals of the tournament must be played at the Harvard Club courts, the preliminary rounds may be played on neutral courts, favorable to both contestants. The championship has been held for several years by C. C. Peabody of the Union Boat Club. This year, however, he will face a very strong field, including Dixon, Wakefield, F. S. Kellogg '06 of the Harvard Club, R. C. Cook of Newton Centre, and Ralph Powell of the B. A. A., all number one men on their respective teams.

1926 Tournament Begins Tomorrow

The Freshman tournament, for which the entries closed last night, will begin tomorrow, when the draw will be posted at the University Squash Racquets Building. All Freshmen who are taking squash to satisfy their physical training requirement have been entered in the tournament and will play their matches in their training periods.

Contrary to expectations, Carroll Harrington '24, who has been playing number three on Team A, was defeated by R. C. Bostwick '23 by the score 15-7, 15-9 in a second round match of the college tournament yesterday. The second round must be finished by tonight and players are requested to write the score with points on the tournament card.
