In the fastest game thus far this season the University quintet defeated the Knox College five from Galesburg, Ill., by a score of 33 to 29, keeping its slate for the season clean while Knox on its eastern trip has won two and lost two games.
Albro playing left forward for Knox was the outstanding figure of the game, shooting six goals from the field and scoring on all five tries from the foul line. Most of his field goals were made on long shots. McLeish starred for the Crimson scoring four field goals and thirteen of fifteen free tries.
The game was fast with never more than five points difference between the teams, and with Knox using a five man defence against the Crimson four man offence. Near the end of the first half Rhind replaced Ludwick at guard for Knox and scored a basket tying the score. Just before the close of the half, Lowenthal scored making the score at the end of the first half, University 17, Knox 15.
Knox began the second half with an exhibition of poor distance shooting but soon settled down to fast floor work with the Crimson on the small end of the score throughout most of the half.
Knox was in the lead until Albro was removed from the game as a result of four personal fouls. With only a few minutes left, a long shot by McLeish gave the University five the lead again, a lead which was assured by three consecutive shots from the foul line.
The summary: Score, University 33, Knox 29. Goals from floor, Lowenthal 5, McLeish 4, Gordon, Albro 6, Campbell 5, Rhind. Goals from free throws, McLeish 13, Albro 5. Referee, Hoyt. Umpire, Bratt. Time, 20-minute halves.
