GOODE WILL AGAIN HOLD CRIMSON BOX AGAINST TIGERS

Coach of Crimson Nine Declares Brilliant Opponents Suffered From Severe Slump in Previous Contest

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University nine will meet a different Princeton team when it faces the Tigers in the second game of the annual series at 3 o'clock this afternoon at Princeton, N. J. Last Saturday the Crimson players had little difficulty in piling up a 13-1 score, but it was obvious that the Tigers had an off day. In commenting on the game Coach Slattery said that Princeton had a much better team than appeared in the first game and that the victory was a result not so much of any remarkable hitting on the part of the University, but of an unfortunate slump of their opponents. In closing he stated that he did not expect this to occur again.

Certainly the Orange and Black has shown flashes of brilliant playing but the season has not been a real success for at critical moments it has fallen down. In the Holy Cross contest it was erratic fielding which was responsible for the 9-1 defeat, while a batting slump gave Cornell an easy 5-1 victory. The first game with the University came on a day when the Orange and Black was far below standard and when the Crimson was playing at its best.

Repetition Doubtful

It is extremely doubtful if the situation would repeat itself for Coach Clark has had a week in which to bring his team up to the perfection it reached in the game with the New York Giants early in the season. With the exception of the first inning when the team was handicapped by nervousness the Orange and Black played a remarkable game. Pounding out a spectacular rally in the fifth the Tiger batters gained the lead over the World's Champions and held it until the ninth when they were barely nosed out by the score of 8-7. It was steady, hard playing that enabled them to stage such a creditable performance, and stage such a creditable performance, and it is more than likely what it will be repeated today.

In last Saturday's contest, moreover, Jefferies, the veteran Tiger pitcher, had been out of the box most of the season with a bad arm and had suffered from a lack of practice. Now, however, he will be in good shape and should be back in his last season's form.

This week Princeton added another victory to her record. when she defeated Lafayette by the score of 9-2. The team was in considerably better shape than it was on Saturday, pounding out 13 has and limiting the visitors to four.
