Scoring four runs in a batting spree in the fourth and gathering four additional tallies on as many other hits, the Freshman nine had little difficulty in gaining an 8-3 victory over Huntington yesterday afternoon on Soldiers Field.
Herrmann, the yearling pitcher was at his best, retiring the visitors in order on four occasions, striking out 15 opposing batters, and allowing only four safe hits. In addition he drove out one three bagger and scored two of the Crimson runs.
Mann started the scoring with a long three-bagger in the second inning, coming home on Hodder's single which followed. The other three tallies came in the following inning when Hammond's two-bagger scored Burgess and Herrmann and Hammond himself came home on an error.
