CHOATE SCHOOL EIGHT WINS

Rowing an unusually high beat, which it kept up to the end, the Choate School eight nosed out Browne and Nichols for the "Yale Challenge Cup" over a three quarter mile course in the Basin yesterday. The Wallingford crew jumped into a slight lead at the start and maintained this for a half-length's margin over the line. Noble and Greenough, Lynn Classical High, and Huntington placed third, fourth, and fifth respectively.

In the race for dormitory eights, hold at 4.30 o'clock. Smith 2 led Smith 1 and Standish 1 across the finish by a full length. The Standish crew kept well up with the winners till near the end, when a series of disastrous crabs effectually extinguished their chances for victory. Gore Hall One broke a seat and rigger in the first five strokes at the start and was agreed to drop out of the contest.

C. H. Hawes '23 and C. W. Wood '23 won the mile pair-oar race at 3.30 o'clock, while W. H. Mitchell 1L, and L. J. Moore Sp. crossed the line in the lead in the double scull finals held later in the afternoon J. P. Whittall '25 won the Freshman Manager Coxswain Wherry race.
