The University golf team, in its first match of the season Saturday, defeated Columbia 7 to 2 on the Cherry valley Club links, Long Island. The New Yorkers scored their two points when Jones and Baker lost to Schreiber and Martin in the first foursome played in the morning and when Martin repeated his victory over Baker in the afternoon two-some.

The summary:

Foursomes.--Schreiber and Martin (C) defeated Baker and Jones (H); Fleming and Degersdorf (H)defeated Church and Cannen (C); Eaton and Williams (H) defeated McGeevy and Latham (C).

Twosomes.--Jones (H) defeated Schreiber (C); Martin (C) defeated Baker (H); Fleming (H) defeated Church (C); Degersdorf (H) defeated Carman (C); Eaton (H) defeated McGeevy (C); Williams (H) defeated Latham (C).
