The University tennis season will get under way with practice at Jarvis Field this afternoon, and an important meeting of candidates at 7 o'clock this evening in Grays 11. The nearness of the southern trip makes the attendance of all candidates of the greatest importance. At the meeting a general outline of plans for the season, including the method of ranking players, will be given. The tennis courts on Jarvis Field will be available for play this afternoon.
On Monday, test matches to determine what men go on the southern trip will begin. Seven men will comprise the team, and as yet no one has been selected. The trip will last the entire spring vacation.
This year a much larger squad will be kept throughout the season. Coach R. N. Williams '16 will make every possible effort to give opportunities to men who are not at present good enough for the first team. With this end in view, a second team schedule of 13 matches has been arranged. This will enable other men than the first string players to get experience in competition with outside teams.
