The trials for the spring track trip will take place at Soldiers Field this afternoon when both University, and Freshman squads will be put through competitive tests in all events. Although playing an important part in influencing the decision of the coaches as to what men are to go south, they will not be the sole deciding factor and no definite list of the squad to make the trip will be announced until after the handicap meet on Friday afternoon.

Coach Farrell tested out a large proportion of his field event men yesterday afternoon with informal competitions in the hammer-throw, broad-jump, and high-jump. As had been anticipated Captain Brown again won an easy victory in throwing the hammer with L. K. Marshall '22 and H. S. Grew Jr. '24 his closest competitors. In the high-jump, however, J. M. Greely '25 caused surprise by defeating Malcolm Morse '24, one of the few University entries to score in the recent Intercollegiate meet in New York at the end of the winter track season. Morse tied for second place with A. K. Murray '23 and J. A. Abbot '25. In the broad-jump competition C. J. Hamlin '23 broke into the list of winners by defeating J. S. Murphy '25, who captured first place in the competition last week. Richmond Page '23 won third place.

Coach Bingham is eager to have as many men as possible report for the spring handicap meet on Friday. Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be given to first, second, and third place winners respectively, but the special races for the cups presented by graduates, will be postponed until later in the season. Men wishing to compete should sign their names in blue-books posted at the H. A. A., the Freshman dormitories, Leavitt and Peirce's and the Locker Building.
