FRESHMAN DEBATERS PICKED

Thirteen Retained After Trials--Will Hold Informal Debate on Tuesday--Triangular Meet to Come April 28

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Twenty-five men reported at the trials for the Freshman debating team Thursday evening of whom a squad of 13 were retained by the judges; W. L. Prosser 1L., coach of the Freshman team this year, C. H. Whelden 1G., member of last year's University team, and R. P. Berle 2L., a member of the 1919 debating team. On Tuesday evening these men will take part in a informal debate on the following question: "Resolved; that the present system of diploma requirements is the one most beneficial to the student"; and on the basis of their work then, the teams will be picked that are to debate against Yale and Princeton on April 28.

The Yale Freshman Debating Club was expected to announce the subject for this debate yesterday, but no word has been received from them as yet. Although the University Freshmen will be represented by a negative team against Yale at Cambridge and will send an affirmative team to Princeton, it will be impossible to determine where the individuals will debate, until the question is worded in its final form by the Princeton Freshman Club some time next week.

The men retained as a result of Thursday's trials are as follows: Morton Arnold, G. E. Barton 2d, B. G. Beckhosfer, G. L. Black, C. S. Ferguson, G. K. Hourwich, W. J. Milde, H. P. Sharp, E. A. Smith, A. W. Talamo, M. H. Thiesson, E. G. Wesson P.W. Williams.
