Twenty members of the University and Freshman track squads will compete in the indoor Intercollegiate track meet at New York today. With the exception of Captain J. F. Brown '22, S. B. Andrew '23, and L. K. Marshall 3E.S., who left yesterday to compete in the 35-lb, weight throw, the members of the squad will leave Cambridge at ten o'clock this morning.
This is the first indoor Intercollegiate meet since 1911 and great interest has been shown among the sixteen colleges competing. At a meeting of the I. C. A. A. A. A. last Saturday, it was decided to make the meet an annual event.
The University one-mile relay team has been considerably weakened by the fact that this event comes too soon after the individual mile race to permit J. W. Burke '23 to run. The Crimson team was lucky enough, however, to secure the pole in the relay, and with this advantage the running of Percy Jenkins '24, J. E. Merrill '24, J. W. Quinn '23, and J. A. McCarthy '32 should enable the University to finish well in the fore. The Freshman medley relay race is an innovation this year, but 14 colleges have entered teams. Here too the Crimson is handicapped by the loss of J. S. Murphy Jr. who broke his arm last Saturday.
J. W. Burke '23 representing the University in the mile run, will have to face among others Janes Connolly, captain of Georgetown and 1921 outdoor intercollegiate champion, Lawrence Shields of Penn State, and Lawrence Brown, captain of the University of Pennsylvania.
In the 60-yard high hurdles both R. S. Whitney Jr. '22 and C. R. Hauers '23 should win their way into to the final heat, while C. H. Wansker '23 is expected to do well in the 70-yard dash, although called upon to face Feldman of Yale and Lovejoy of Cornell.
The following men will represent the University:
