On account of the necessity of preparing the Arena for the B.A.A. games tonight, it was not possible yesterday afternoon for Coach Claflin to give his Crimson hockey men their usual workout. If there is ice out-of-doors today, the University squad will probably practice on the Charlesbank rinks.
It will be unfortunate if the Crimson is unable to hold a work-out today, because in such an event it will mean that by the time of the Westminster game on Monday Coach Claflin's men will have had a four-day lay-off. Such a prolonged absence from practice is liable to have a bad effect on the team. The University sextet entered last Tuesday's contest against the B.A.A. after a three-day lay-off and at least two of the Crimson players appeared to be very sluggish at first. It is certain that the long rest did not help the playing and Coach Claflin does not wish to have another such lay-off unless it cannot possibly be avoided.
Martin, who was unable to take part in Thursday's work-out on account of sickness, will be in condition to play Monday, it was announced today. Coach Claflin will need every regular in order to win over the strong Westminster team, and Martin's absence would be a serious blow to the Crimson chances of success.
