CRIMSON WRESTLERS LOSE

Norwich Downs University Mat-Men, 20 to 9--Vermont Team Meets Strong Opposition in Heavyweight Bouts

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Crimson wrestling team met a 20-9 defeat on Saturday afternoon when it faced the strong Norwich University mat-men at Northfield, Vermont. The matches, however, were not as one-sided as the score would, indicate for the majority of the bouts ended in sudden falls after long periods of even struggling. Since Captain H. B. Walker '23 was unable, owing to illness, to meet his opponent, the 115-pound bout was not held.

In the lighter weights the Norwich grapplers had everything their own way, but the heavier classes produced bouts which were undecided up to the last few minutes. It was in the 145-pound class that the University showed up best, Curtis Nelson '24 finally throwing Captain Merchant with a bar and half-nelson hold after five minutes of aggressive attack.

The summary:

125-Pound Class.--Crawford (N.) defeated Whitman (H.). Fall in 3 minutes.

135-Pound Class.--Richards (N.) defeated Michelson (H.). Fall in 3 minutes.

145-Pound Class.--Nelson (H.) defeated Merchant (N.). Fall in 5 minutes, 4 seconds.

150-Pound Class.--Daggett (H.) defeated Leahey (N.). Decision, 1 minute, 47 seconds.

175-Pound Class.--Elias (N.) defeated Sanders (H.). Fall in 7 minutes, 50 seconds.

Unlimited Class.--Flanders (N.) defeated Lockwood (H.). Fall in 7 minutes, 10 seconds.
