HOCKEY MEN GIVEN REST AFTER GAME WITH TIGER

The Crimson hockey squad was a given a lay-off yesterday afternoon by Coach Claflin, who wished to rest his players completely after Saturday's tussle with the Tiger. Today practice will be resumed at the Arena and there probably will be no further let-up this week. The University men will face Yale Saturday in the second contest of the Crimson-Blue series. This will be the final contest of the season for Coach Claflin's players if they win the struggle; if Yale is the victor, a deciding game will be played at the Arena on the following Saturday, March 4.

Although very much encouraged by the showing made by the Crimson in the Princeton contest, Coach Claflin will not allow any let-down in the work this week. The team reached the highest point of efficiency shown all season Saturday night and Coach Claflin's task during the next few days will be to keep his men up to the same standard. Even although the Elis were defeated in the first game, the contest was unsatisfactory from the Crimson standpoint on account of the ragged team-work displayed throughout the major portion of the struggle. Coach Claffin aims to have his men overcome the Bulldog this Saturday in the same sort of style they took the Tiger into camp.

Captain Owen and his players will meet a much improved Eli combination in this second game. The Elis have developed steadily in the ten days since their first set-to with the Crimson, as has been evidenced by their three successive victories since that time. The Blue first took the measure of St. Paul's School 2 to 0, then swept through William 4-0 and finally overwhelmed the strong Cornell sextet 6-2. Bulkley; who played right wing in the contest with the University, was the star of this last game, scoring five of the goals and showing real all-round ability. Spelden, who was unable to skate against the Crimson because of an injury, returned to the Yale line-up in the Williams and Cornell contest and his presence at right defence materially strengthened the team.
