The Freshman hockey season began last night when approximately 60 candidates for the team reported at the opening meeting in Smith Halls Common Room. Donald Angier 1L., Freshman coach, Brooks Potter '24, assistant manager. W. H. Claflin '15, coach of the University team, and D. J. Kelley of the Department of Physical Education spoke on various phases of the coming season and the game in general.

Until the ice on the Charlesbank Rinks is sufficiently sound to permit practice the entire squad will be given a run every day by way of preliminary training. The season will begin with a game with Malden High on January 6 and will close on February 17 with the contest with Yale.

As a result of a cut in the University squad announced at the close of yesterday's practice 28 men have been retained.
