The University Hockey season will open today with a meeting of all candidates for the team tonight at 7.30 o'clock in the Quiet Room of the Union. Coach W. H. Claflin '15, Dr. D. C. Parmenter '13, Captain George Owen Jr. '23 and B. D. Nash '23, manager for 1923, will address the meeting and explain the early season work.
The first practice of the season will be held on Friday at 4 o'clock in the Boston Arena, and will probably consist of a long two to three hour drill in fundamentals. There will be no practice on Saturday, but the squad will again report for work on Monday at 5 o'clock.
Claflin and Windsor to Coach
W. H. Claflin '15 will again act as head coach, assisted by Robert Windsor Jr. '05, who will act in an advisory capacity. The prospects for a successful season are unusually good this year with five letter men back as well as a large amount of excellent material from last year's University and Freshman squads. A stiff schedule, as yet unapproved by the Athletic Committee has been arranged, opening the season on January 4 with a game with Toronto at Boston and closing with the annual Yale contest, also to be held this year in Boston.
There will be a meeting of all candidates for second assistant manager of hockey at 1.05 o'clock today in the H. A. A.
