At the next meeting of the Student Council, plans and a petition of 150 undergraduates for the formation of new University and Freshman swimming teams will be presented.
The project has the support of the H. A. A., and has been approved by the Minor Sports Council. Mr. William J. Bingham '16 has signified the willingness of the Athletic Association to furnish a coach.
until a few years ago, the University had a swimming team, which, at times, was very successful. Lack of adequate facilities for practice, however, and consequent lagging of interest, caused the deterioration of the team, and eventually its abolition.
At the beginning of the present year interest in swimming revived, and signatures obtained to the petition signified the interest of undergraduates in the project.
In the event of the formation of one or more teams, the Huntington Y. M. C. A., which has the finest pool in New England, will permit the use of its facilities by the Crimson swimmers.
