In the finals of the Union doubles tournament J. McC. Roots '25 and E. M. Upjohn '25 defeated W. H. Harkness Jr. '24 and J. M. Hopkins 3E.S. yesterday afternoon on the Divinity Courts by the score 6-3, 8-6, 6-1.
Throughout the first set the winners took all but two of their service games, but in the second, their opponents stiffened and held the lead until 5-3, when they were forced to give way before the faster playing of Roots and Upjohn. In the third set the losers appeared to be quite off their game and could take but one game.
The match was marked by the absence of rallies since a few returns decided nearly every point. Roots and Upjohn took every opportunity to run up to the net and kept their opponents to a backcourt game by the use of many well placed lobs.
