Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
In the annual fall squash racquets tournament G. D. Debevoise '26, who last week sprang a surprise by defeating F. I. Carpenter '24, has made another upset by his spectacular win yesterday over F. W. Crocker 2L. The efficacy of the seeded draw has been well demonstrated in this tournament, since Crocker is the only one of the eight seeded men who has not reached the fourth round, or who will not certainly do so.
The first game of this match was carried to extra points, but Debevoise's superior headwork finally prevailed 1817. In the second game, however, Crocker took Debevoise off his feet with his hard-hitting play, his baffling left handed strokes, and his clever drop-shots; he frequently landed the ball in the nick for a sure point, and entirely deserved his 9-15 victory. In the final game Debevoise steadied down and employed better strategy to win 15-9. By this match the former St. Paul's man has shown himself to be a player of promise, and is expected to give even E. M. Hinkle '23, captain of the University team, whom he is sure to meet in the fourth round, a hard fight.
Although the results of the other matches were more expected, two in particular were marked by closely contested play. D. S. Ingalls 2L, encountered the stiffest opposition which he has met so far in his bout that he won 2-0 from A. L. Smith '25, number four on team A, who was playing in good form. J. H. Douglas 2L, defeated E. K. Davis '24, number four man on team B, handily to the score 2-0. W. P. Dixon '25, who plays third on team A, found unexpected opposition in C. P. G. Fuller '23, leading man on team C, and barely won the first game 18-17; Dixon pulled up in the second, however, and won 15-8. Carroll Harrington '24, number two on team A, easily defeated G. M. Laimbeer '26, a former St. Paul's player, 2-0.
The fourth round of the tournament is to be played off by Thursday evening, the semi-finals probably during the latter part of the week, and the finals some time next week.
