47 WORKSHOP PROGRAM TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON

Now Considering List of Possible Plays for Fall and Winter Season--Recent Graduates of Course Successful--Works Produced in New York

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The definite program of the 47 Workshop for the coming season is to be ready for publication early next week, according to announcement just made by Professor G. P. Baker '87.

There has been considerable difficulty in making a selection from among the many excellent plays available. The 47 Workshop does not want to put on any plays for which the writers can secure professional production, and there has therefore been a temporary delay in making a final selection from the possible list.

Several men who have recently gone through the 47 Workshop have recently achieved considerable success in theatrical lines. Chief among these is Phillip Barry, Yale '19, the first winner of the Belmont Prize Competition.

Alexander Dean, who was formerly connected with the 47 Workshop, and who for the past two years has had charge of dramatic work at the University of Montana, has gone to Dallas to take charge of an experimental theatre. He has been replaced at the University of Montana by Roger Williams who was Professor Baker's assistant last year.

"Shore Leave", now running in New York, was written by Hubert Osborne whose two plays, "Reconstruction" and "The Good Men Do" were produced by the 47 Workshop.

F. L. Day's "Makers of Life", which the Workshop put on last December, has been produced at the Neighborhood Play House where it was favorably received by the critics.

R. C. Brink, who had two years in English 47 and 47a, has recently published an experimental novel in free verse called "Down the River" (Henry Holt & Co.). A play of his, "Catskill Dutch for Her" will be included in the 47. Workshop program for the autumn and winter.
