FIRST RACES OF FALL REGATTA TAKE PLACE

C. L. Dane Jr. Wins Freshman Wherries-Heats in 1926 Compromise and University Singles Races Held-Doubles Scheduled for This Afternoon

The first of the Fall Regatta races were held yesterday afternoon over the upper half-mile course. Dr. Howe and Coach E. A. Wachter refereed.

It was decided to run the Freshman wherry races in one heat, the winner of this being C. L. Dane Jr., with H. H. Saxton second.

C. F. Darlington took first place in the first heat of the Freshman compromise races, while J. D. Leonard captured first place in heat B. These two men will compete in the finals to be held tomorrow at 3.15 o'clock.

The University singles race was run off in two preliminary heats. In heat A. J. O. Bangs '25 placed first, and J. J. Irwin 1L. second. In heat B. J. G. Crooks '25 won first place, and J. P. Whittall '25 second place. The finals for this race will be held tomorrow at 3 o'clock.

This afternoon heats A and B of the University doubles race are scheduled for 3.30 and 4.30 o'clock respectively.
