A new comet has been discovered by the astronomer Baade of Hamburg, Germany, according to a cablegram received by the University Observatory from Copenhagen. The discovery was made last Thursday, October 19, and the comet was subsequently observed on Sunday by the Danish astronomer Stroemgren at Copenhagen.

The comet was reported to be in the constellation Cygnus. It was much too faint to be seen without a telescope. During the interval between Thursday and Sunday, however, it was reported to have increased in brightness from magnitude 11.5 to magnitude 9.
