AMHERST FAVORED TO WIN IN FIRST SOCCER MATCH

Has Played One Game, Defeating Clark University 3 to 0--Several Veterans in Line-Up--Crimson Has Strong Material to Draw From

This afternoon at 3 o'clock on Soldiers Field the University soccer team will play Amherst in the opening game of the season. In the final practice yesterday the University scrimmaged the Freshmen and succeeded in scoring eight goals against the latter with little difficulty. The field was still rather slow from the rain, but will certainly be in good shape for this afternoon.

Amherst has the edge on the Crimson having already played its first game this season with Clark University winning a victory by a score of 3-0. Amherst has several veteran line-men back this year, but her back field is weak and inexperienced. Barry among the halfbacks and Bristol in the forward line have so far been the stars on the team.

Coach W. R. Welch has been much in doubt as to whom he should pick from his strong material to start today's game, but the probable line-up will be:

John Pallo '23, goal.

H. L. Hartley '23, r.f.b.

R. M. C. Greenidge 3E.S., l.f.b.

J. J. Sullivan Jr. '25, r.h.b.

F. G. Wale '25, c.h.b.

W. T. Pattison '25, l.h.b.

A. J. Byington '24, o.r.f.

J. F. Mersereau '25, i.r.f.

R. W. Heizer '24, Capt., c.f.

Corliss Lamont '24, i.l.f.

Norris Tuttle '24, o.l.f.
