DOUBLE-HEADER IN BASKETBALL TONIGHT AT HEMENWAY GYM

Coach Wachter gave his basketball men a complete rest yesterday in preparation for tonight's double-header in which the Freshman quintet meets the New Hampshire State yearlings in the opener and the University five takes on the Worcester Polytechnic team for the second time this season. The first game, that between the first-year men, will start at 7.15 in Hemenway Gymnasium and will be followed by the Crimson-Engineers fray.

In the early part of the month, the Worcester players took the measure of the University by a 32-18 score. As was the case in both games between the two fives last year, an early lead enabled the mid-state team to win. They, like the Massachusetts Agricultural College team, which the Crimson defeated Wednesday night, play a type of the five-man defense game. When Coach Wachter's men played the Worcester team earlier this month, they were unable to score a single field goal in the opening period but in the second half came back and outscored their opponents.

With the advantage of a home floor and experience against the type of game which the Worcester men play, the University basketmen are expected to put up a much stiffer battle tonight. The team showed itself to be in top form against the Aggies for they carried their attack with speed and accuracy and the defensive power kept the opposing forwards from caging short shots.

The only change in the Freshman line-up is the shifting of Kent Middle-ton to right forward. The yearling five will take the floor as follows: Middle-ton, r.f.; Merriam, l.f.; King; c.; Samborski, r.g.; Quivey, l.g.
