Former Newton Player Has Shown Consistent Work on Defense--Lack of Ice Handicaps Practice

Clark Hodder '25 of Newton was elected captain of the Freshman hockey team yesterday afternoon at a meeting of all of squad A in the Smith Hall Common Room. Hodder is the third successive yearling hockey captain who has been trained at Newton High School. George Owen '23, present University captain, and William Edgar Crosby Jr. '24, preceded him.

Hodder played for two years on the Newton High team in the forward line and was elected to captain the team in his senior year. He has played a strong, steady defensive game all through the season, starting every game, and has been a potent factor by his superior checking in keeping down the opponents' score.

The yearlings were unable to hold practice yesterday because of poor ice. The strong Andover team will come to Cambridge tomorrow and in preparation for this contest Coach Homphrey hopes to be able to give his charges a rather stiff work-out today.
