BASKET-MEN FACE PURPLE TEAM AT WORCESTER TODAY

Crimson Squad Has Light Practice Session in Preparation for Contest--Team in Good Condition

Coach Wachter's quintet will make its second trip to Worcester this year when it meets the strong Holy Cross five in the mid-state city this evening at 8 o'clock.

Due to exceptionally light workouts this week, a top-form game is expected from the Crimson team which is in excellent condition. Because of a certain amount of listlessness shown by the five against M. I. T. Tuesday evening, Coach Wachter gave all the first string men who played against both West Point and the Engineers and entire lay-off on Wednesday while Pallo and Captain McLeish also had yesterday free. Even for the rest of the squad yesterday's session consisted of a short signal drill with only ten minutes of scrimmage.

Since neither the Crimson or the Purple have met a common opponent, no definite comparison can be made as to the relative strength of the two teams.

Purple Has Good Record

With a schedule including several of the strongest teams in the East, the Worcester team has so far to its record six victories, including one over Yale, out of seven contests played, the one defeat having been at the hands of a Brooklyn five. The first triumph of the season was a 56-10 victory over Providence College on December 14, while two days later the University of Maine also fell a 48-19 victim to the Purple assault. Coach Casey gave his players no respite during the Christmas vacation, however, a flying four day visit to New York and Brooklyn resulting in three victories and one defeat, St. Francis, Brooklyn College, and the College of the City of New York being vanquished by overwhelming scores while the Crescent A. C. gained a 26-30 triumph. The Yale game was played a week ago, the Purple team carrying home the long end of a 21-24 score.
