SCHEDLES FOR BASEBALL, TRACK AND CREW APPROVED BY ATHLETIC COMMITTEE

Question of University's Entrance as a Member of I. I. H. A. Referred to Graduate Treasurer

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

At a meeting of the Athletic Committee held on Tuesday, January 10, many spring schedules as will as he remaining schedules for winter sporis were approved and several new appointments were made.

Chief among these latter was the appointement, on recommendation of the Rowing Committee, of Dr. R. Heber Howe Jr. '01 as General Supervisor of rowing at the University, details concerning which have already been announced.

The selection of J. R. Tolbert 1L. as coach of Freshman basketball and track was also authorized. Tolbert has been directing the yearling basketball squad ever since the beeginning of the season, and has recently assumed charge of the 1925 field event candidates at Soldiers Field.

The petition from a large number of undergraduates, received a week ago by the H. A. A. that boxing be recognized as an intercollegiate sport at the University, was considered at length by the Committee, but official action was deferred until the general sentiment of the undergraduate body on the petition could be more fully determined.

Atkinson Awarded Crew "H"

On the recommendation of the Student Council, the crew "H" was voted to Henry Russell Atkinson '21. Two years ago Atkinson rowed on the Junior University eight against Yale, but last spring, while captain of the same crew, was prevented from rowing at New London by an injury sustained a few days before the race.

The petition of the basketball teams, both University and Freshman, for a training table on the same basis as the major sports, was reluctantly refused, as the Committee did not consider it wise to establish the precedent of supporting training tables for minor sport teams.

The application of the Gum Club for recognition as a minor sport team to the extent that insignia be awarded and the usual provision for the excusing of cuts made by the filing of "before the game" lists, was referred to the Student Council for their recommendation and report.

No Gym Meet with Annapolis

The application of the Gymnasium team for the authorization of a meet tentatively arranged with the Naval Academy at Aunapolis was refused, in view of the policy of the Committee of not extending the number of trips of minor sport teams outside of New England without special reasons.

Decision on the question of authorting the entry of the University as a member of the Intercollegiate Ice Rockey Association was left to the Graduate Treasurer with power. The nomination of a representative committee to consider and recommend necessary revisions in the rules for the allotment of football tickets was left to Chairman I. B. R. Briggs '75 and Major F. W. Moore '93, the Graduate Treasurer.

Owing to lack of time, the recommendation of the Student Council that managers of spring sports be awarded their letters at the beginnigof their respective seasons, was out taken up. The ruling cannot go inte effect until endorsed by the Committee.

In addition to this action, the Committee approred the following schedules and changes in schedules:
