Three University crews were picked yesterday from among the large number of candidates who reported for practice. These eights will form the University squad; they were boated as follows:
First Crew.--Bow, J. A. Nickerson '22; 2, R. C. Storey '24; 3, W. K. Shaw '23; 4, J. D. Jameson '24, 5, L. B. McCagg Jr. '22; 6, H. S. Morgan '23; 7, G. M. Appleton '22; stroke, E. S. Matthews '23; cox., S. C. Badger '23.
Second Crew.--Bow, Garrison Norton '23; 2, Huntington Brown '22; 3, L. B. La Farge '22; 4, R. F. Bradford '23; 5, E. K. McCagg '24; 6, Dennet Withington '22; 7, H. H. Fuller '23; stroke, Stanley Brown '24; cox., B. H. Burnham '24.
Third Crew.--Bow, W. F. Lewis Jr. '23; 2, W. A. Coolidge '24; 3, M. W. McGreevy '24; 4, B. W. Huiskamp '23; 5, Francis Fiske Jr. '23; 6, N. C. Webb '23; 7, Horatio Bigelow '24; stroke, R. F. Brander '23; cox., E. N. Carson '24.
Nine class crews went out on the river yesterday. For the first two weeks the men will be divided into eights according to ability, as they were yesterday. After that Coach Brown hopes to put the men into regular class crews and to continue class rowing for the rest of the autumn. Coxswains for the nine undersquad crews are still needed, and any man under one hundred and thirty pounds whose time is available during the fall should report to Newell Boathouse at the specified time for rowing.
