THE FRESHMAN RECEPTION

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The word reception, although implying a welcome, has an air of formality that hardly suits with the meeting for 1925 this evening, which is nothing more than an opportunity to get acquainted. Few will be scared off because of the ominous sound of a word; unfortunately most of those who are absent will feel that they can manage without getting acquainted with Harvard,--a much sadder state of mind. Men of 1925, tonight you are officially welcomed; for the first time you will meet as a class--the largest in the history of the University; for the first time you will hear President Lowell and Dean Briggs. You are through with registration, the routine of filling in cards and waiting in line. You are here! Tonight marks the beginning of things.
