HARVARD CLUBS MAKE APPROPRIATION FOR ROOSEVELT MEMORIAL

MILWAUKEE, June 10, 1921.--At the twenty-third annual meeting of the Associated Harvard Clubs here today, the graduates approved the proposal for the erection of a memorial building at the University to commemorate. Theodore Roosevelt '80, who died in January 1919, by adopting the report of the committee, headed by Charles G. Washburn '80, of Worcester, which was submitted recently. They authorized the President of the Associated Harvard Clubs to appoint a committee to raise the sum necessary to construct the building, the cost of which was estimated at $325,000.

The project, which was approved by the University authorities, is that the Roosevelt Memorial Building shall contain a working floor for the use of some of the departments of the University, and particulary for the tutorial work of the college, as well as a memorial reading room where shall be kept Roosevelt memorabilia of all kinds. The plans are to be carried into effect as soon as the necessary funds can be secured. The precise type of building, and its exact site at the University, are yet to be determined.

It was voted to accept the invitation of the Harvard Club of Boston and to hold the next annual meeting of the Association in Boston in the spring of 1922.

The convention also voted in favor of establishing a permanent Alumni fund to which graduates would make small contributions annually, the money to be turned over to the University for unrestricted use.

Election of officers of the Associated Clubs was also held today, and the following men were elected: Emanuel Monie Grossman '96 of St. Louis was elected president, succeeding J. W. Prentiss '98. George Austin Morrison '87 of Milwaukee was chosen secretary. The present secretary, Mr. Edward Hance Letcheworth '02 of Buffalo, will continue as treasurer. About 275 men attended the meeting, coming from all parts of the country.
