Defeat Country Day in First Contest of Season

The Freshman tennis team defeated the Country Day School team in its first contest of the season yesterday afternoon, winning every match.

The yearlings showed up strongest in the singles, winning every set, but encountered serious opposition in the doubles--C. W. Farnham Jr. and K. S. Pfaffman coming through only after a hard fought struggle with Nichols and Pratt of the schoolboys; while E. St. R. Reynal and L. H. Rouillion finally disposed of Perkins and Woodworth, 2-6, 6-2, 8-6.

The scores were as folows: Singles: C. W. Farnham Jr. defeated Rudge Nichols, 6-2, 6-2; K. S. Pfaffman defeated L. O. Pratt, 6-3, 6-2; Donald Stralem defeated F. W. Perkins, 6-2, 9-7; E. K. Davis defeated Kennard Woodworth, 6-1, 6-4. In the doubles Farnham and Pfaffman defeated Nichols and Pratt, 6-3, 1-6, 7-5; and E. St. R. Roynal and L. H. Rouillion defeated Perkins and Woodworth, 2-6, 6-2,8-6.
