CORNELL AND PRINCETON INVITE ENGLISHMEN FOR JULY 29

In Telegram Sent Yesterday, Ask for Meet With Englishmen, to Follow Meet With University and Yale on July 23

Following the definite word received Monday that Oxford and Cambridge would face the University and Yale in a dual track meet July 23 came the announcement yesterday that Cornell and Princeton had formally invited the two English universities to combine against them in a meet to be held about July 29 in New York City. The invitation was embodied in the following cablegram sent yesterday to the English authorities by Cornell and Princeton:

Instead of two separate dual meets Princeton and Cornell join in extending cordial invitation to Cambridge and Oxford for a dual meet at New York about July 29, between combined Princeton-Cornell team and combined Cambridge-Oxford. Suggest conditions of meet similar to that of Oxford-Princeton last summer." (Signed) "Berry, Cornell; McLenahan, Princeton.

The English colleges proposed a short time ago that Cornell-Cambridge and Princeton-Oxford separate dual meets be held, but the two American universities have come to the opinion within the last few days that a combined meet would be more advisable. How ever the authorities at both Cornell and Princeton have invited the English runners to make social visits to Ithaca and Princeton, where they will be entertained extensively.
