CRIMSON NINE DEFEATS BANKERS BY 3-1 SCORE

Feature of Game Mediocre Playing--Bigelow Shows Up Well in Box--Janin Sends Out Long Triple to Left Field

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In a not very brilliant six inning practice game, played yesterday afternoon at Soldiers Field, the University nine defeated the First National Bank of Boston team by the score of 3-1. Bigelow and Murphy made up the battery for the university, the former doing very creditably; for although he allowed four singles in the first inning he eighteen in the next, and gave only one hit for the remainder of the game. Janin's triple to left field that landed fair by about an inch was the only feature of the contest. On the whole, the Crimson was considerably troubled by Shea's clever pitching.

The order of batters was slightly different from that of last Saturday. Conlon and Lincoln, who have been batting first and third respectively, shifted positions, and Hallock moved from fifth to sixth place. Buell was in right field instead of Crocker, but the latter was sent to bat at the end of the last inning.

The line-ups:

University.--3b., Lincoln; 2b., Emmons; s.s., Conlon; 1b., Owen; c., Murphy; c.f., Hallock; r.f., Buell, Crocker; l.f., Janin; p., Bigelow.

First National Bank. S.S., Horgan; 1b., O'Connor; 3b., Beman; p., Shea; c., Woodlock: l.f., Parker: 2b., Howard: r.f., Morrisey; c.f., Gildea.
