UNIVERSITY WRESTLERS HAD MEDOCRE SEASON

Return of All 1921 Letter Men Next Year Make Prospects for Next Season Very Good--Gained Two Victories Out of Five Matches

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

With three defeats and two victories to its credit the University wrestling team has completed a rather mediocre season, H. B. Walker '22 was the only member of last year's team to return and a small squad reported at the beginning of the year. The first meet was lost to Penn State, the intercollegiate champions, by the overwhelming score of 33-0. On February 24, Brown was defeated 14-11 and the following Saturday, Princeton, who had just won from M. I. T., lost by the same score. But M. I. T. showed a reversal of form a week later, and won from the Crimson 14-11. Three days before the Yale meet on March 11; C. A. Eastman '23 of the 175 pound class went on probation with the result that this match was forfeited and the University again lost, this time 14-9, each team receiving three decisions.

Bright Prospects for 1922

On Friday, March 18, were held the finals of the University tournament, of which Francis Rouillard '23 was the individual star by winning the champions are as follows: W. C. Westhaver Unc., 115-pound class; Geoffrey Baker 2L, 125-pound class; H. J. Freedman '23, 135-pound class; R. T. Sloane '22, 145-pound class; G. W. Tower Unc., heavyweight class.

All of this year's team will be back next year and there will be a training table during the whole season and an attempt will be made to have professional wrestlers coach the the team. The manager competition will be put on the same basis as it is in other sports by starting with a competition for second assistant managers for Sophomores only. One of these will become assistant manager in his Senior year. The following men received their letters; W. R. Barker '22, J. F. Brown '22, captain; Francis Rouillard '22, J. F. Stearns '22, H. B. Walker '22 and J. P. Merrill '23, manager.
