An innovation with this year's Pi Eta Society show, "The Late Mr. Kidd," will be the recording of several of the best songs on phonograph records.
The songs selected are "The Hero" by L. A. Harlow '23, "Big Enough for Two" by W. B. Leach Jr. '21, and "An Isle in the China Sea" by M. H. Dill 1 S.L.A. There was some question at first as to which pieces were to be recorded, so Mr. Grady, the leader of B. F. Keith's orchestra for a number of years, who was selecting the numbers, had them played to him over the telephone. In this way he was able to tell which ones would sound best after being recorded, and so was able to make his selection. These records will be for sale after all performances of the show, and will also be included in the Victor and Columbia lists.
Music to Be Used at Keith's
Mr. Grady, after hearing the pieces played, was so impressed that he asked permission to use the music as an overture during the week of the play. Copies of the orchestration have also been sent to several of the Boston hotels, and will be used for dancing.
The tickets for the Cambridge and Boston performances of the show will go on sale Thursday at the Cooperative store and at Leavitt & Peirce's. The prices of the tickets for the two Cambridge performances, which are on Saturday, March 19, and on Tuesday, March 22, are $2.75 and $2.20. The tickets for the Boston performance, which is being given at Jordan hall on march 26, are priced at $3.30, $2.75, $2.20. and $1.55.
The chorus of the play has been selected, and is rehearsing daily under the direction of Coach "Dave" Lord. The ponies are J. E. Eaton '28, A. S. Ellsworth '21, r. B. Hovey Occ., R. E. Larsen '21, T. R. Thayer 1G.B., and L. J. Young '28. The show girls include E. V. Otis '22, E. L. D. Damon '21, S. W. Faniyce 3rd '21, L. D. Hill '22, M. S. Jones '22, W. J. Means '21. The chorus men are Paul Palmer '22, J. M. Phillips '29 D. M. Oenslaser '28, Richard Waite '28, C. A. Gage '22 and H. T. Sears 1G.B.
