ALL CREWS OUT ON OPEN WATER FOR FIRST TIME

Twenty-One Boats From Newell and Weld Take to River-Coach Howe Issues Appeal for '24 Coxswains-Change Lineup of Crew B.

The first day of comprehensive work on open water yesterday saw 21 crews on the Charles extending their work over the whole period of the afternoon. Coaches Haines, Herrick, and Brown were all out on the water, but only gave one eight, the first University boat, anything approaching a stiff workout. As a result of the day's rowing Crew B has been shifted and is now seated as follows: Bow, H. R. Atkinson '22; 2, S. A. Duncan '22; 3, G. M. Appleton '22; 4, Frank Fiske '23; 5, A. H. Ladd '23; 6, M. W. Self '23; 7, T. T. Pond '21; stroke, Sherman Damon '21. F. H. Brigham '22, who has been rowing at 6 in Crew B has taken the place of A. H. Ladd '23 at 5 in Crew C, while W. O. Clark '23 has been raised from one of the Sophomore Class Crews to 2 on Crew D.

In view of the small number of coxswains who have reported for the Freshman crews, Coach Howe issued the following statement last night:

"There will be at least twelve Freshman coxswains needed this spring and at present but nine have reported. Any Freshman under 130 pounds, who wants to avail himself of the opportunity to meet intimately and pleasantly over one hundred of his classmates; to take part in and help along a class activity; to have the fun of entering one of the eleven outside contests provided; and to compete in the wherry race for manager and coxswain candidates, will do well to report at once at the Weld boathouse."
