Soldiers Field will be the scene of the 45th annual track and field championship games of the Intercollegiate Association, according to the unanimous decision of the Association in meeting Saturday. The meet will be held in the Stadium May 27 and 28, and will consist of the same program that has been in vogue in recent seasons.
Numerous amendments to the constitution and by-laws of the organization were adopted, many being merely technical changes to conform with recent developments in athletics. The javelin and discus throws were added to the annual games program but will not take effect until the 1922 meeting. The proposal to add a five-mile run and the 440-yard hurdle race will be considered at the next annual meeting.
The number of contestants in the pole-vault and high-jump was left to the discretion of the referee. Hitherto these events have been limited to six men from each college in each event, which, which made the qualification tests long drawn out. One other matter taken up was the question of continuing or abandoning the indoor meeting, which has not been held for two or three years. To decide this a special meeting of the executive committee was set for May 26 at Boston.
It further was voted to hold the annual cross-country championship yearly on the Monday preceding Thanksgiving day. These events in the future will be run over the Van Cortlandt Park course, New York City, thus giving the contests a standard course.
