Regular practice for the football season of 1921 will begin on Monday afternoon at 3.30, when about fifty candidates, headed by Captain R. K. Kane '22, will report to Coach R. T. Fisher '12 for three weeks of practice.
Coach Fisher will be assisted in his work by J. L. Knox '98 and by Dr. D. C. Parmenter '13, and by several Senior members of last fall's team, among them T. S. Woods ocC. and C. L. Havemeyer '21.
Work during the first week will be light, intended only for conditioning the men and developing the fundamentals. The last week, however, will see some scrimmaging between teams picked during the first two weeks of practice.
It is Coach Fisher's intention to have only three weeks of practice this spring and to call off all organized work after April 15, until the men come back early in September for the beginning of the fall season. In deciding to have such a short period of work, Coach Fisher is running contrary to the systems in vogue at Yale and Princeton. Practice at New Haven has been under way for seven weeks and will continue until Commencement, while the Orange and Black squad has been on the gridiron for three weeks and will not call off the work until June.
Speaking at the Varsity Club last Monday, Coach Fisher declared that practice had been called for two reasons--in order that the coaches and men might get acquainted and in order that the players might get accustomed to the system of football in use at the University. Intensive development such as is on the program at Princeton and Yale will not be attempted.
Men will be expected to report dressed for practice at 3.30 on Monday. Managers will be at the Locker Building from 2.30 on to give out equipment.
