Former national champion R. N. Williams 2nd, '16, and Captain Leon de Tunenne '21, have issued a call for regular indoor practice at the Longwood Covered Courts. Beginning with Monday every man on the University indoor tennis squad will be required to play a minimum of three times a week. The care-taker at the Longwood Covered Courts has been given a list of the players of the indoor squad with attendance cards. Every member of the squad should report to the caretaker and have his name checked off every time he plays. Every player who fails to practice at least three hours a week will automatically be dropped from the squad and will not be considered for either the Cronell or the Southern trip at the spring recess. Early practice is necessary because of the trip to Ithaca in the first week in March, where the University tennis men will oppose Cornell in an indoor match.
R. N. Williams 2nd, '16, chairman of the Graduate Tennis Committee, will coach the indoor tennis men during the season. Williams is especially desirous of impressing the fact that practice should be practice and not competition. Heretofore, due to the always existing spirit of competition, the average team candidate has always gone out on the tennis court with the sole idea of winning his practice match. Repetition of scores will be discouraged this year as no weight will be given to the results of practice matches. There will be two weeks of test matches previous to the Southern trip to determine the line-up.
The following men compose the University indoor tenis squad: Captain Leon de Turenne '21, R. Bradley '22, F. T. Pratt '22, J. B. Fenne '21, V. Romaine '22, C. P. Holmes '22, E. W. Feiblemen '21, J. R. Morss '21, M. Duane '23, G. Wakefield '22, L. R. Frost '23, J. D. Farnham '23, W. T. Richards '21, R. P. Parker '22, L. D. Hill '23, and J. M. Kleberg '22.
